It should have been a pleasant afternoon of football, showcasing the two Western Australian football teams and the magnificent new stadium but it devolved into an ugly blood spectacle when something snapped inside the head of senior West Coast Eagle Andrew Gaff, which saw him lash out at an 18 year old kid with a brutal left hook that sent the rising Fremantle star to hospital. As you'd expect from that lot, the Eagles supporters gave Gaff a standing ovation as the distraught Fremantle players found it difficult to focus on the job, letting to scoreboard get on top of them. Fremantle are yet to comment on whether Brayshaw will pursue assault charges against Gaff but he's certain to miss the rest of the season, and then possibly retire in shame. The Premier is expected to speak on the matter later in the week.
