There was a point in Fremantle's history when, if you lost a Derby, you'd be dropped off in the heart of Joondalup in your full kit and told to find your own way back to Fremantle. Those players who made it back by nightfall were considered for selection the next week, those who didn't were dropped off again the following morning. By the time they learned to navigate through the hostile northerners, they'd also learned exactly why it's so important to the Fremantle supporters to beat the West Coast bastards every single time. Nowadays the club has a more laissez faire attitude towards losing, anyway, it's a simple train ride back to Cockburn, so everyone has kept their spot in the side so far.
