Matt Taberner has gone berserk on Essendon, kicking 7 glorious goals and sending Fremantle soaring into second spot on the ladder. Sure, some of the accountants in the midfield will claim that their clearance work and lace out kicking was a big contributor, and some of the defenders will put their hand up and claim their unrelenting pressure on the opposition forwards allowed the fast rebounding that gave Taberner the space to lead into - but no one really cares what they think. Footy is all about forwards and people will flock to see Golden Boots Taberner kicking goals every week, and humiliating teams like Essendon. It was a bit of a slow start though, to be honest, and Tabs did his best without much to work with, kicking two goals in the first half but he went mad in the third, kicking 4 goals and breaking Essendon's will to continue competing. From there, Fremantle rolled over the top of them to a 48 point victory.
Fremantle won by 48 points.
