Fremantle have officially hit a winning streak, with two wins in a row and bit bump up at the ladder, sitting just a few dozen percentage points outside the top 8. The game started with all the classic hallmarks of two unfashionable teams slugging it out on an overcast Melbourne day in front of no one. A lot of congestion, a lot of kicks to the boundary and a few goals here and there t break the monotony. It was all very misleading on how the afternoon would unfold. The Demons chipped away at Fremantle and gradually started to push their lead out, as the Dockers fell back into the habit of not knowing how to kick, mark or handle a football. As half time approached, the afternoon looked like it was going to end in a long and painful flight home for the Dockers. Then Weller and Neale unveiled their previously unknown Lachie powers (not to be confused with 90's boy band sensation Lachie Powers) and went berzerk. Fremantle kicked the next 8 goals to come from 5 goals down to be in the box seat by three quarter time. Things took a tense turn in the last quarter, with Melbourne briefly flirting with the lead but Cam McCarthy shut the gate on the Demons with a goal, after the report came back from the CSIRO that the boot had undoubtedly made connected with the ball.
Fremantle won by 2 points.
