Fremantle have been allowed to rejoin society after managing to contest a game of football for four quarters, even briefly looking like an outside chance to win. There were fears early in the day that Fremantle might knock off Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor as the biggest sporting farce for the weekend but, after leaving the Bombers unattended for the opening half of the first quarter, Fremantle suddenly remembered how to play football again. David Mundy was plucking the ball out of the middle like he did in his heyday, Hayden Ballantyne was bouncing around like a kid and Matt Taberner was taking grabs in the goal square like he was one of the contenders for the Coleman. Even with the sudden resurgence to competence, Fremantle never looked like troubling the Bombers for most of the game - then the last quarter hit and they turned on a footy clinic, only missing out on taking the lead by the bastardry of the umpires.
Fremantle lost by 15 points.
