You couldn't accuse Fremantle of not paying the Brisbane Lions enough respect but you could be mistaken for thinking they were expecting to see Michael Voss and Jason Akermanis running about in the pink and yellow. After Fremantle lost Sandilands before the game, the 17th placed Lions completely blitzed the Dockers in the opening quarter, with Fremantle managing just one goal, after the quarter time the siren. Freo continued to pay the Lions undeserved respect in the second quarter. It was slightly better than the first but but not by much and things weren't heading in the right direction when Nat Fyfe left the ground with a busted hamstring. At half time Ross handed the players a white flag each which they were more than happy to raise for the third quarter before hopping on the early bus home for the last term, leaving Brisbane to win by more than Akker and Vossy could ever managed over in WA.
Fremantle lost by 55 points.
