Luke McPharlin appears to have accepted his invitation to Dustin Fletcher's 40th Festival of Grog and has feigned one of those calf injuries that seem to crop up every time someone wants a weekend off. Fletcher wanted to play but in recent years the AFL has cracked down on the trick of putting a footy jumper on a keg and planting it in the goal square. Thankfully that’s still allowed in country football so Paul Hasleby only has to rock up every second week up at Northampton. McPharlin’s absence isn’t expected to be noticed, with Alex Pearce slotting straight into full back where he’ll presumably stay until October.
