Who would have thought an overweight defender from the arse end of Australia would one day grow up to be one of the all time great centre half forwards in the history of Australian Rules Football. That's what Lee Spurr will be planning for as he lines up for his 100th game this weekend in what is sure to be a well attended event. Arriving at Fremantle through the rookie draft, Spurr was an immediate regular in the Fremantle backline and neither he nor the club has looked back since. But many have suggested, with Old Man Pavlich (also playing a milestone game this weekend) soon to retire, Spurr might be the answer to Fremantle's forward line problems and he could have a bright future as a glamour full forward. Such a big occasion has been a welcome distraction for the Fremantle coaching department and they've gone a bit giddy from all the excitement, adding 6 players to the team that left the Gold Coast in tears last week. Old Man Pavlich has been given another chance, with Matt de Boer, Darcy Tucker, Jack Hannath, Ethan Hughes and Alex Silvagni all jumping onto the long bench. Jonathon Griffin has been dropped, because ruckmen are so pass, as have Connor Blakely and Nick Suban.
