remantle's run of wins has finally come to an end, going down by 31 points in the Giants in the nation's capital. Windy days in Canberra usually feature Malcolm Turnbull explaining the wonders of the coal industry but on this occasion it was a gale blowing while Fremantle played Greater Western Sydney in front of family and friends. The wind proved one of Fremantle's best for the opening half, with GWS and their precious skillful ball use abandoning them early. Fremantle, having a lot of experience chasing wide kicks and spilled marks were in their element and took a significant early lead. Unfortunately the Giants had adapted by half time and gave Freo a touch up in the second half before settling on a respectable 5 goal win
After back to back wins and a good night at the tribunal, Fremantle head to the east coast to try and work out where the hell UNSW Oval is supposed to be. If you see some blokes in purple jumpers wandering around Randwick Racetrack on Saturday morning, point them in the direction of Canberra. Their opponents, the GWS Giants are coming off an embarrassing loss to cross town rivals, Sydney, who's only other win this year was against the woeful West Coast Eagles. Confident and excited by what the rest of the season might hold for them, Fremantle have resisted the calls to do anything to the team this week and will presumably stick with the same plan that has proven successful twice this year already. The Giants have brought back some bloke named Toby Greene who will hopefully get within earshot of Hayden Ballantyne at some point during the afternoon.
Fremantle either triumphed in a titanic battle between two of the up and coming challengers in the AFL or hung on for a scrappy win against perpetual cellar dwellers, depending on how much merchandise you got for Christmas but Freo bagged the 4 points and continued on their way to not sucking in 2018, with a 28 point win over the Gold Coast.Coast. After a good start by Fremantle, the Gold Coast managed to level the score at half time and it took the Dockers a while before they distinguished themselves from the Suns , playing some iffy football between patches of dominance. In the end, Nat Fyfe's class was the difference and Fremantle edged their way back in front before nailing the Suns' coffin to win by a percentage boosting 28 points.
Fremantle lost by 31 points.
