Oh the humanity. You'd think we'd be used to it by now but Fremantle's even by the standards of a season that started with 10 straight losses, the game against Collingwood came as a hidious shock. It was like having front row seats to see the band on the Titanic...had the band been Coldplay and the Titanic been destined for Adelaide...and didn't sink. Fremantle kicked one goal for the entire first half, barely threatening even then. Collingwood weren't much better, kicking the odd goal before long stretches of falling over and rubbing each other up. The only saving grace was that it was the lowest crowd at the MCG since the second world war. Fremantle put up a small fight in the second half, and for a while it looked like they might be able to stagger over the line after Collingwood appeared to pass out drunk. Unfortunately Fremantle were unable to stagger in the general direction of the goals and by the time they got within shouting distance of the Magpies, Collingwood woke up and finished the job, with the biggest cheer of the day saved for the final siren.
Fremantle lost by 48 points.
