Fremantle nearly kicked themselves out of the game against the Bulldogs, botting through the opening 5 goals of the game and losing interest for much of the rest of the day. Keen for a challenge, the Dockers headed over to Melbourne to take on the Bulldogs, or to use their full name The Much Improved Western Bulldogs. Fremantle obviously hadn't realised how bad The Much Improved Western Bulldogs had been because, while they were much improved, they still had little in the way of resistance to put up against a Fremantle team in full flight. So, with the heat out of the match in the opening 20 minutes, the Dockers played kick to kick for much of the day, until some highly suspicious umpiring allowed the Bulldogs to catch up. At that point, Fremantle piled on some quick goals to put a bullet in the Doggies and continue their undefeated tour of Australia.
Fremantle won by 13 points.
