Despite being the most disappointing season in Fremantle's history, the Dockers have ended the year leaving Freo fans wanting more. Matthew Pavlich had asked for a big effort from his team mates and a big effort he got. Freo came out firing for Pav's finale, running amok against the Western Bulldogs and delighting a crowd that showed up expecting to be participating in a wake. It took less than twenty minutes for Pavlich to get goal number 700 on the board and from then on it was all about who could win Pavlich's love the most, with the Dockers players pushing beyond the limits of talent and fitness to run out the game twenty points in front to produce their 4th win of the season. When it was all over, God shed a tear, Pavlich thanked the fans, ran a lap of the ground and was carried off out of the stadium one final time to raucous applause ... and a the odd person suffering from the unusually high pollen count.
Fremantle won by 20 points.
