You got the feeling that both teams would have been happy to wheel out a couple of barbecues, carry on a eski and some deck chairs and spend the afternoon kicking back in the sun rather than kicking a footy. It was an idea that Fremantle were reluctant to let go of too, letting Carlton run amok while the Freo boys sulked in the corner. The battle weary supporters could barely be bothered expressing their disappointment as bottom placed Carlton skipped ahead but, thankfully, Fremantle put on a bit of a show in the third quarter to take back the lead and regain some credibility. Carlton resumed being terrible after that and Fremantle cruised home to win by 29 points.
Fremantle won by 29 points.
