Sydney's been quiet this week. A sizable chuck are back on the League blandwagon, due in no small part to the fact that all four remaining teams are from NSW.
Disturbing, but probably not surprising, how quickly AFL has now shut up shop here in Sydney for 2013. So the wait for Friday morning's flight to Melbourne has been, in a word, interminable.
But I've kept my personal build up low key, apart from a run on Wednesday through the inner west and CBD of Sydney, decked out in full purple regalia of course. Got the odd, 'go Freo' calls from what were probably other expats, but mostly the stares were blank and uncomprehending.
The rest of the week, well the lack of fun here in Sydenny has been fortuitous, as I've spent two days fasting for a little op I had on Thursday arvo, which went well thank you and fortuitously. I even had a man-purple hospital gown. Choice.
One nice thing, though, is even though Swans fans now consider it cricket season, every one of my red and white pals who have contacted me after last Saturday night have, to a man and woman, and cross-gender type (remember, it is Sydney after all), have given us their complete and utter support.
So at the airport now, waiting for the flight. Cannot wait for the parade. It's going to be a blast. Last year was fab, even though it rained. So this year with Freo involved it ought to be beyond a mere blast...
Gotta go, getting emotional (and I think that's my flight boarding now).
Bring it.
