Trying to follow Drubbing's act is like trying to get sense out of an Eagle supporter..you can't.
(By the way, Drubbing, that was top shelf, son.) (and WHERE is Mish?)
But it did get the addled oos braincells in motion.
Can we cope with success?
We've had spurts of brilliance before, when false hope has temporarily replaced frustration and futility, when the purple followers see a glimpse of light on the horizon, only to come back to earth with a thud. And then we hear the usual player white anting, but magnified due to the taking away of the promised land.
You would have thought that the long suffering followers of the purple would be savouring the moments of long awaited glory.
But no, there are still the lurkers, the knives are still out. It's as if a lot of us can't handle success. And that's understandable, it's unknown territory to a Docker supporter, isn't it?
Meself, I just can't fathom how any dinky dy Freo fan can possibly rubbish what we've been given by each and every Docker player so far this season. Sure, there has been the odd hiccup with some of the newer guys, but hell, they aren't bloody machines. I did notice a few of last year's premiers more than nonplussed at times, but do those who support the top sides white- ant?
Everyone on here would have someone near them at the footy deriding some of our players week after week. You know who they are, and who the hapless man in purple are who consistently cop it from their own supporters.
OK, we mightn't have 22 out and out stars out there each week. Blokes get injured, younguns take their place.
Footballers are only human, they make mistakes. And to play the fast, play on, accurate kicking football they have to, and we all like to see, instead of the backwards and sideways rubbish others put up with on the off week, the element of risk dictates that there will be turnovers at times. The side is still in a transitional phase, it will get even better.
Just appreciate what we are seeing, give em our support. If you still feel like ranting and raving about one of our own, maybe you should give the other mob a try.
The transformation on the field is just part of the new Fremantle.
Supporters also have a role to play. Support your side with the one eyed fanatacism of (I hate writing this) a Collingwood or Carlton follower.
We aren't losers any more, we are winners. Not on the back foot any more. The front foot.
