No time for a glib start to the rankings this week. On we go...
(2) Hawks - Finally a change at the top of the rankings. Hawks struggled against the D's but remain the only team to win every game they've played. They slept through the entire game against Melbourne and only woke up when they formed an honour guard at the end. Nice touch no matter what you think of Neitz.
(1) Geelong - They have enough credits in the bank to not drop too far, and I think they're still clearly 1 of the top 2 teams.
(3) Dogs - Anyone talking about Johnno choking? Anyone? That's actually a serious question, I've stopped reading any footy stuff or watching any commentary shows. So I honestly don't know.
(5) Brisbane - A seriously good team to watch. Notting is a guy who befuddles me. I can't tell if he is over rated and inconsistent or a hard toiler capable of the odd flashy moment.
(9) Sydney - 1 of a few teams quietly making me look like a goose. Thankfully no one really reads this so it is our little secret. I was watching Men In Black the other day, long story, but it struck me that Adam Goodes looks eerily like the guy who gets his head blown off and is able to grow it back. I mean they could be twins. Anyway...
(10) North - The 2nd team to jump up 4 spots. Both these guys and Sydney had good games as all above them fell down. The Roos were always in with a big shot with Harvey's 250th. This is a club that lives for that type of thing. And thanks to the TAB for the silly price.
(4) Crows - I'm back on these guys but they will suffer for letting the addicts get up on them so easily. A surprisingly lame effort and 1 I doubt they'll repeat. I wouldn't want to be playing them this week. Enjoy it Essendon.
(11) Collingwood - A complete dismantling of the best team going around. Enough to make a Pies fan smile. Which is a good enough reason for the rest of us to hate that result.
(6) Port - Not a huge drop because Sydney are travelling well but this is the 4th game (Geel, Adel, Bris, Syd) these guys have hit the front in the final qtr of a close game at home and lost. At home 1 is inexcusable, 4 is ridiculous.
(10) Tigers - I have eluded to this rule before. you don't go up just because you beat a crap team at home. And my Jeebus, aren't the Bummers a crap team.
(7) Saints - They will not go higher than 9th in these rankings for the rest of the year unless they beat Geelong and Hawthorn on the same day playing nude and with Fraser Gehrig playing on a wing.
(12) Carlton - Pricks. Lucky pricks too. Always cheating. I just vomitted in my mouth again so lets just move on.
(15) Underbelly FC - Woossie was back to "we" in a big way again this week wasn't he. This bloke is as close to integrity as Bill Clinton is to monogamy.
(13) FFC - Really encouraging stuff again from Taz, Ibbo and Palmer. Ryan Crowley should be in the top 3 of the B&F too. But I'm about ready to give up on the Duffield and Thornton projects.
(14) Demons - Said bye bye to Neitz in a fitting way. Tried hard but in the end not a lot to show for it and just not good enough.
(16) Bummers - Mrs Knights had a fit in his press conference apparently. The biggest surprise for me was that anyone bothered to show up for it. Listening to this guy talk about footy is akin to asking me questions about synchronised swimming.
