I'm sitting in the Qantas lounge at the moment listening to 2 people discuss who is going worse, the Budgies or us. It's mystifying how some people can be this stupid and yet still find the wherewithall to button up their shirts.
Anyhoo, 1 interesting thing about walking in here this morning was that 1 of the computer terminals was actually on the Dockerland site, well done that person.
I'd like to belatedly welcome Taz's form and confidence back. He looked very good last week, and very fired up too which is the thing I liked most.
On to this week's rankings...
(1) Geelong - I can't quite come to terms with the idea that people think Geelong are "struggling a bit" because they're winning and only playing a couple of good quarters. Surely that is better than the alternative...see Freo.
(2) Hawthorn - There is plenty that I'm thinking about and that is annoying me this morning. This time it's the reaction to Hawker William's choke move in the Port game. So it's OK for the older coach to do it, but not for a younger player too? I think every team should have done it every time they beat Port. It should be the new jacket wave.
(3) Bulldogs - Can't dismiss these guys any more. They look dangerous and a real shot to trouble the top 2. I think they'd lose to either one of them, but it would be very good footy to watch.
(4) Crows - Like Melbourne, these guys are making my pre-season predictions look dumber every week. Thank Jeebus that Nisbett didn't have the nuggets to go through with the decision to appoint Craig as coach of the Filth. They'd probably have a hat trick in the bag by now.
(7) Brisbane - I haven't seen a lot of them in recent weeks, but they keep getting good results. It is the classic good team on paper that is performing that way.
(6) Port - Mark Williams is an A Grade goose, a 100% All Australian knob. That's all I've got.
(5) Saints - This year does have a large number of cod ordinary teams doesn't it? I mean there isn't a person in the game that wouldn't give Freo a shot at beating these guys and yet here they are.
(9) Sydney - Easily flogged the easily flogged.
(10) North - see Saints. I mean really...
(9) Richmond - Not a bad showing from them against the Cats, who seemed to sleep through about 80% of the game.
(12) Collingwood - Dale Thomas plays his 50th over hyped, over rated, 5 seconds of flash and no enduring substance game this week. Congrats to him and all those who hype him for keeping it going.
(11) Carlton - Going about as well as I and most people thought they would. Interesting to see how they go as favourites this week.
(14) Freo - Up a spot on the back of poor performances from the others. Once again some delightful footy. Dodd has been deservedly panned this week, as appalingly soft as that decision was, you just don't do that unless you're wearing a different jumper.
(13) Demons - Regressing to the mean last week. Item number 1347 that amazes me. Davud Neitz is arguably the best ever player in a club that has been around since it all began. That doesn't seem right to me, he just isn't very good.
(16) Spineless & Soulless - Congrats on 200 games to the 1 player at that club who deserves the stain on his character less than anyone of being identified with that mob. Wirra must shower 15 times a day in an effort to rid himself of the stench.
(15) Essendon - Easily flogged by a team that just doesn't flog people. I'm begging you Matthew, wake up during the games. You'll be amazed at how much difference that makes to your team.
