Doesn't footy just give you the irrates sometimes? I mean really, how hard was it to watch on Sunday? Hard to keep the faith. Hard to stomach the lack of effort from people you expect so much from. Hard to take the Tigers seriously even though they spanked us. Hard not to jump the fence and give the umpires a rogering, especially the experienced fool who seemed intent on showing the younger fools just how much you can get away with when you umpire a Dockers game.
Anyway, there is always this week. And, for the moment, there is another installment of the Power Rankings.
(1) Cats - Disposed of a decent team with ease. Also bought in 2 kids who seemed to want to impress Cam Mooney with how stupid they can be in dishing out rough stuff.
(2) Hawks - Got rid of Adelaide without any problems. The top 2 teams are yet to be tested so far. Still, thanks to The Big D and AA, we only have to wait 3 months until we see them play each other.
(6) Bulldogs - Can't keep them lower anymore. But they aren't challenging the teams above them either.
(5) Swans - Apart from Barry's brain fart there was nothing stopping them from staying high. Now? Who knows.
(9) Lions - Sometimes the footy gods just give everyone something to make you feel good. This week it was allowing the Lions to win like they did. We all felt good about it.
(3) Collingwood - Would have dropped further if anyone else had turned up to play. Like the Pies, noone else did.
(4) Crows - I still can't get a read on these guys. It wouldn't suprise me if they finished anywhere between 3rd and 14th.
(7) Saints - See above.
(11) Kangaroos - Normally a win against the Dees wouldn't see a jump up this list. But this week it does.
(16) Tigers - Fast, skillful, dangerous, committed. It happens once a year when noone expects it. So its happened. Even though it probably won't happen again, on Sunday they were very good.
(16) Blues - How much would they have enjoyed that!?! Melbourne this week so 2 in a row a real chance. After that they can give any good players a rest in preparation for the finals in 2011.
(10) Bombers - Lloyd a leader? Anyone who saw him in the coaches box as the game tightened up would know that is a fraudulent claim. I saw him smiling and texting someone at a pretty interesting stage in the 2nd qtr. Diabolical.
(12) Power - Should fall lower really but this week was defined by the amazing amount of sucktitude on display. At least these guys played 3 good quarters. How long before we have a legitimate Chokko head explosion? 1 week? 2?
(9) Dockers - You can't criticise just 1 bloke in a game like that and be fair. But bugger fair. David Mundy spends too much time doing things half heartedly, and not just this week. Anyway, this next fortnight is an opportunity for the whole team to make everyone forget the Tigers game. A win against Adelaide at AAMI and then against the Cats and all will be forgiven. Anything less and it is not pretty.
(13) Eagles - Not even a whimper. As said by someone on the main Board. The look on the face of that gormless freak who acts as a coach was priceless. It screamed "whaddya want from me? they're terrible!!". Exposed already, and it only took 4 weeks. Port this week is not monty either.
(16) Demons - Trying hard to think of something to say...still thinking...um...that Aaron Davey seems like a nice boy.
