Half way through and I for 1 was expecting a few more wins.
Anyway, this weekend I was crook as a kerr so I got to watch every second of every game. You'd think that would make this weeks rankings more informed...well you'd be wrong.
(1) Geelong - Nice little game from Gablett and Co. Steady as she goes.
(2) Hawks - Buddy show rolls on. Time for my fortnightly rant that the top 2 teams on this list don't play each other until round 17. By then 8 teams will have played each other twice. Its clear now where Benny went during that missing in action phase in LA, he was in Melbourne doing the AFL fixtures.
(3) 'Dogs - Should have smahed the aints. I can't make up my mind as to whether Will Minson is a goose or a gorilla. Maybe both. Strange to see Cooney losing his lunch before the game, maybe Brad Hardie was in the rooms prior to the bounce and gave him a pep talk.
(5) Sydney - 1 spot jump as just reward for treating the deficit against the cheats with contempt and destroying them after half time. They continue to surprise and are much better to watch than most.
(4) Brissie - Lost 3 quaters but won the game. Good sides do that against shaky sides. Their win was made better by the lack of impact from B & B too.
(6) C'wood - Imagine my surprise when I saw Thomas dob a flashy goal after the result was sewn up. This guy makes down hil skiers look like rock climbers.
(7) Crows - Tough 3 weeks ahead (Hawks, Bris, Geel). 2 of 3 at AAMI but it makes the fact that they won on the weekend even more important.
(9) North - Typical performance from them and they almost got there. Good result considerring the personnel in the stands. This will all come apart quickly though when the Laidley hysterics wear off, and they will in time.
(12) Carltank - What a fun game to wacth. Fev doing his caged animal act. Kreuzer and Murphy showing heaps and Judd getting back to WCE form. Well done.
(8) Port - What a fun game to watch. Chad getting goosified in the last half. Lade shaking his head like an owl on speed and Choke-O getting shown up again. For those counting that is now 6 games where these guys have quit on each other in a close game. Happy times.
(10) Aints - Terrible game for all at Moorabin. Rudderless, emotionless and a whole bunch of other less's as well.
(11) Tiggers - Isn't it great to have these guys back. One less thing to worry about.
(13) Freo - Good: Johnno I, Palmer, Pav, Taz, Luke, Sandi, Robbie, Sollie, Grover and a few others. Bad: Mundy. Sad: Macca. It shouldn't end like this. Lets hope he has a Steve Waugh, backs to the wall prolific end from here on in and goes out as he should.
(15) Demons - Really missing Neitz. Try saying that with a straight face. That guys heads the first induction group to the "Over Rated Albatross" Hall of Fame.
(14) Bummers - No coach since Tim Watson has been so out of his depth as Mary Knights is. Kevin Sheedy must be spinning in his grave.
(16) Kizon Utd - So now it seems when they're not getting pumped by 100, they're going to start choking away games too. This season has had it all for this mob. By the by, where are these great kids that are meant to be the bright spot in all of this? All I see are guys that remind me of our early group. Toia, Callaghan, Edwards, Kingsley, Dan Parker, Jonesy etc. Some of them will play some decent games, but barring Punchy Masten, none of them will concern any opposition coaches.
