TOPIC: Respect for Jarrad Schofield

I probably went too early with this idea but I think the Derby is probably a more fitting arena.

As a sign of respect for Jarrad Schofield, the first Fremantle Dockers player to become coach of the West Coast Eagles we should all stand and applaud him for 1 minute, at the 17 minute mark of the first quarter. As I'm sure you all remember, 17 was his number.

It's a great achievement, I think Justin Longmuir might be the only other Fremantle player to have become a senior coach so it will be a great day to see two Dockers coaching against each other.

Share it around. Make it happen.

Jarrad coached a WAFL team stacked with X AFL players who didn't need coaching.

Is Schofield also the first AFL head coach with a full sleeve tattoo? I can't think of any others.

This is mean spirited, petty and cruel.

At the 17th minute mark of the first quarter join me in being mean spirited, petty and cruel.

You're very cynical, hypen. Just because he's coaching another team, it doesn't mean we shouldn't respect his journey.

We can only hope that JS emulates the coaching efforts of AS in talking up a huge defeat on his journey.

Like your work Josh.

Port Adelaide assistant coach Josh Carr has ruled himself out of the race to become West Coast’s next senior coach - but his boss is reportedly the Eagles’ top target.

Carr has long been linked to the Power job once Ken Hinkley departs, and he is happy to remain at Alberton for the time being.

“I’ve been really clear from this time last year that I’m here to stay in Adelaide - not moving away any time soon,” Carr said on Monday.

“Everyone’s settled, I’ve moved a few times the last few years and I’m fully entrenched at Port Adelaide.”

But the job above Carr could soon open up, if a report from the west is correct.

SEN WA’s Tim Gossage claimed Ken Hinkley is “the number one target" as West Coast seeks a long-term replacement for Adam Simpson.

“I think the shift has been significant in the last 48 hours,” Gossage said on his breakfast show.

“I’m confident he is near the top of their shopping list. You can’t come out and say he’ll get the job because it is a massive process, but I do believe his name has soared into contention at West Coast.”

However Carr believes there is little merit to the veteran reporter’s story.

“I think you’ve probably just got to look at the source first. Think it was Gossage, wasn’t it? It’s never that reliable, is it?” Carr said.

Given we lost the last (unlosable) derby, I’ll take the low road on this one and keep the powder dry.
