I still reckon young and Chapman are your mans, hypen.

I get your slippery fumbles talk, though. It’s the one thing paining me to not tip them in Darwin this week.

And don’t worry about Walters, you lot, he’ll be right once his hand comes good. He was the missing link in the Sydney game.

Got me right in the heart, corporal

Crikey, it’s going to be colder there than it has been in Perth for 9 months! We’re no show.

I really like Jye Amiss and he is our long term future full forward however if we are dead serious about making the finals and challenging for the flag we have to win games and that may take some tough selection decisions. To win games especially against the top sides we have to have 100% effort from every player in the 23 for 100% of the game. If Jye can't keep putting his body on the line for the full game even when he's getting bashed up by the big bullies from other clubs then we need to get someone in who can and right now that's Pat Voss. And sentimentality can't get in our way either with Nat Fyfe and Sonny Walters. If they don't fit the team balance or are not producing results they too need to be managed with players performing consistently in the WAFL given a chance. I don't know about the rest of us but I'm getting sick of being also rans in the comp while we develop young talent and keep our legends playing until they're in walking frames so we can send them off in Round 23 while we try to make the finals let alone challenge.
Back to Jye, I know he had it rough getting that free kick paid against him but the final score was a draw and his contribution after that incident was Zero. A bit more effort and throwing his weight around we may have actually got a few points more that could have got us over the line.

Amiss has been absolutely shafted by the umpiring this season, no reason why. He has been held, belted, scragged and blocked with no protection. Every time he has tried to give a bit back and stand up for himself he has been penalised. Tell me what else he can do? It is time the administration gets tough and demands answers from the awfl. The media are not giving a toss, coz it's only Freo being shafted by this farce of an umpiring trend.

That's a lot of assumptions about Jye, only the game before he had 7 shots on goal.

I think you guys are all too jumpy, let the kid play and learn. The whole point of playing our kids and having such a youthful side is for them to make mistakes, face hardship, overcome challenges and become better players. Wanting to drop Amiss or Johnson or whoever after a bad game is the wrong lesson to teach them. You back them in to get better and learn, to develop. The WAFL doesn't develop players like an AFL environment.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I'm with you Biz on Amiss' talent and that he'll come good eventually but when we need to win games against tough opposition how many games do we have to risk losing while we wait for Jye to get his mojo back or where he is uncompetitive for 3 quarters as he was against Collingwood. He has to at least continue to compete and at least bring the ball to ground in 1 on 1 contests to accommodate our small forwards. And he also seems to have lost confidence in his goalkicking which in the last 2 weeks has been as bad as Nat Fyfe and we all know how many on this site are willing to throw our ex skipper under the bus for his indiscretions when kicking for goal.

Gumnut, "and his contribution after that incident was Zero". Not as I saw it. He was in the contest where Cox hurt himself and had to go off. I reckon if Cox played the game out we would have lost. So kudos to Jye.

If all you've got to show for 3 quarters of football is accidentally breaking an opponents ribs and getting him subbed out of the game then it's a pretty ordinary performance and Dani Laidley's score of 2 out of 10 for the game is a bit on the generous side. Walters and Amiss on notice against Melbourne on Sunday

But he was in the contest. A lot of players would have just figured that Cox had the best position and let him have an easy mark. That is a very Freo weakness. When I look at how Essendon used to play under Sheedy, there is no way they'd let you take an easy mark. I'm sure (without ever hearing him say it) that Sheeds would have said something like, "You contest the mark as hard as you can and let the umpire worry about whether its legal or not."

I hope Jye was watching tonight's game and the way Sam Darcy disposed of Maynard. It may get him in trouble but Jye really needs to develop a bit of mongrel especially after he was pushed around by the Collingwood bullies last week.
Otherwise he will continue to cop this treatment and the reality is that the umpires will not protect him so the ball is in Jye's court.

Jye needs to spend an afternoon with our first coach Gerard he will teach him a thing or two.

I hope he was watching so he knows how not to flatten an opponent when he isn't in the contest and get himself suspended. I'd prefer Amiss doesn't miss games.
