I watched the academy game last weekend vs the Bulldogs as well as the previous academy game a few weeks beforehand but most of what I know of Bo Allen is from last year. He's a decent size but a bit of a utility, not quite tall enough to play as a key position defender but will try his heart out.

This year is probably not a good one for West Aussies with few if any rating amongst the top 40 prospects. Bo Allen is probably top 3 for WA along with Malakai Champion and Kayle Gerryn but I don't see any of them being top 20 picks where our selections are likely to lay. There's still a lot of footy to be played so that can change with some impressive performances but it's rare that there's more than a couple of bolters who push up towards the top 10/15 where our picks are.

Bo was decent off half back in the academy games without doing anything particularly outstanding. As a defensive utility, he's probably not someone I would be targeting at the draft but if he plays through the middle at colts level and for WA at the championships, that will give him the best chance to show himself off and push his chances as a big bodied midfielder. For now, there's a lot of players I'd select ahead of him.

I'm not too sure who his old man is. I've mostly been impressed by his work as a ruck/forward at colts level this season where he's been pretty dominant. I'm keen to see how he goes against higher level players at the national championships. There's a few highlight videos floating around youtube of him if you'd like to check out how he plays but my preference is seeing these players personalities/attitude shine through like in this video with the main WA draft prospects:

Hey Biz, there's a kid at Claremont who I liked the look of in the Colts GF last season Max Rohr, 197cm, 86kg, 19yo He played second fiddle to Zane Zakasteltsky who was BOG in that game.
Didn't get a heap of possessions but had a good leap on him and really attacked the ball well. He's playing reserves now for Claremont, seems to be playing ruck by the stats? Across 6 games he's averaging 17 disposals, nearly 3 marks and 17 hit outs a game. Also a couple of tackles a game and a few goals. Any thoughts?, He seems to me the type that we could use maybe from this years draft.
