TOPIC: Teams: Fremantle v Western Bulldogs

I think you can when there is not one period of play where he looked AFL level. He just looks like a bloke who excelled at schoolboy footy but can't take the next step. There's been plenty of them.

26 disposals and ten tackles against Collingwood in round 18 2023. Just saying.

Sturt should stay in the team.

Our coaches seem very keen on rewarding forwards who work hard. It hasn’t really helped us score. I think our coaches should try rewarding players who score goals, just as an experiment.

Other than perhaps Freddie, do any of our small or mid-sized forwards really look like they’ll kick multiple goals?

You’re right, Sturt doesn’t look like scoring multiple goals.

Voss and Simpson won’t either, if they are sitting back row of the dugout in the sub shirt.

Did Sturt 'work hard' last week??

Its not about 'getting used to it' any more, for him...

Get in, and have a presence...its that simple.

Having said that he learns nothing at peel. We - as a club - place to much importance on form at Peel.

Yet we don't reward it, just ask Brodie. He may not meet all the defensive KPIs but he is a valuable offensive weapon who just may improve our scoring prospects. And I've said it before, Switta is probably our best defensive player and I love his smothers and chase down tackles yet for a small forward he contributes very little on the scoreboard.

I agree Gummut, Switta’s not a spectacular match winner but is normally efficient and adds pressure inside 50. Would you rather have a Bailey “The product” Fritsch (type) in the side ?

yes, I'd take Bailey Fritsch in an instant. One of my favourite opposition players.
I'm also looking forward to seeing Patrick Voss get to show what he's got to offer.

Switta’s small defensive role works well in tandem with another small forward who can score from his hard work - Walters last year and hopefully Simpson from here forward.
Pressure forwards don’t need to be small, I’m looking forward to seeing Treacy & Voss burying opposition defenders with bone crushing tackles.

The forward lines have been dysfunctional for years. Amiss knows how to play his position and is being given a chance.

Sturt’s never been given a good run at a few games and does anyone actually expect him to be the difference between a dysfunctional forward line and a better forward line?

I’m looking forward to the rest of the season to see the players playing confidently, more consistency in effort and how much we improve.

Saying Switta is efficient against Fritsch who is rarely injured and a renowned lead, mark and goal kicker is really a no brainer.
