Funny thing, when Sonny seemed to spend time more in midfield he was really quite effective, more so than when he was forward and he simply has to be told to stop those ridiculous marking attempts. Twice tonight he caused a turnover in our forward line and wasted a scoring opportunity and from memory both times Bullies when down their end and goaled.
I also thought O'Meara was better tonight given more time in the midfield and did some good things in defence as well.
Next week I'd have Davies in for Draper, give Amiss another week's rest and maybe give Switta a run with Peel. I don't think anyone really deserves to be dropped to make way for him and Voss and Simpson will benefit enormously from another week to develop in the seniors.

Absolutely no way that Voss nor Simpson go out.

We have been struggling to kick 9 goals a match. We need guys who can
1) kick straight, and, 2) have class & presence.

Simpson had zip that we havent seen up there, for a long time.

Defensive pressure is not quite the reason for being in the forward line. Ability to beat your opponent & kick goals is still the number 1 reason for being there.

Make judgements on who is there, or who could come in, on that basis, and that basis alone.

As much as i love Mikey,, he's starting to look slow...

Simpson didn't just have zip, he had a lot of spatial awareness. I think I brought this up last year, but I don't think we have a great ability to see spaces. The better teams see and use the smaller gaps, we generally need a lot of space or else we create a contest and hope for the best.

Simspon seemed to have that ability to see and use the smaller spaces.

Gumnut, you’re spot on. Sonny’s skills are sublime at times but those marking attempts were nuts. I liked Voss’s game, particularly when he did the team thing and handed the ball off to Jackson and then the lead up to the player which resulted in his first goal.
