For me, the best thing I think Ross has brought to the Fremantle football club is their "culture". This is a word often used but not defined.
This new culture is built on a no excuses, work with what is in your control and earn respect on the field approach.
For many prior seasons I saw Fremantle players mentally give up on the field due to bad umpiring or being bullied by the opposition. I no longer see that, and I now see a team extremely mentally strong.
My point here is, I beleive Ross has the greater good in mind when putting the responsibility on the players when ever a hot topic arises. As a fan of the players and team this sometimes feels unjustified, but it is for the greater good. I see and believe in the bigger picture and I also think that with effort and time and good strong mentally tough attitudes by Fremantle, more respect will be earnt and many of these injustices will happen less often.
Yes, I'm sick of the injustices like most of you old timer Dockers, but I am seeing a shift out there. Many years ago I would not have seen the general support in the media that Fyfe recently got with his suspension.
I like the fact that this new era of Dockers went and beat Geelong last year in the finals when challenged by one of their many injustices. That advances the club far more than any public whining by a coach can ever do.
