The Hack himself was full of it in his perth now article. Apparently Josh is "controversial" as in "CONTROVERSIAL Fremantle young gun Josh Simpson has suffered another setback in his bid to establish a regular spot in the AFL and will miss Saturday’s big clash against Sydney." Sorry how is he controversial?? Did he king hit someone or is he still struggling as a very young indigenous parent coming to the big smoke from Yalgoo?

He continues - "The gifted Simpson was dumped after indiscretions over his past two seasons while a developing Docker at East Fremantle." Wow, this from an "expert" footy journalist. I'm pretty sure Josh was drafted at the end of 2012 meaning past one season, not that facts are important when a story needs to be told.

Sure the guy may have a few issues trying to fit in, its defiantly not the first time its happened to promising kids in the AFL.

Controversial AFL Journalist Kim Hagdorn has been battling his own mediocrity for some time. The lazy scribe missed his opportunity to join the Herald Sun league after a series of fact fumbles, derailed what was a promising career after a round one feature he did on Nic Natanui. He had been expected to grab the opportunity but has been dropped back to the WA newspaper league in an effort to find form and continue his development.

Why wouldn't Chris Bond just make a joke about Simpson missing the plane. Everyone would have had a laugh and moved on.

You kidding when a kid finding his way slips up, its Bondie's time to shine.

As the strict, uncompromising general that he is.

All seems very alarmist ... You just hope whoever is deciding his fate knows something about football and/or gets the leadership group involved ...

I might be naive but I have this vision of Lee Spurr and Matty DB standing between some PR/Comms** hack and Josh.

Also (as it seems everyone is allowed to speculate) wondering if anyone stepped in to fill role Walters has been playing with this kid while he was in Melbs and focussing on his ankle.

**as a PR/Comms hack I am qualified to sledge in this manner.

I have been talking of my excitement about Simpson all week at work. Thought he was the silver lining with Walters having surgery. I hope whatever the issue with Simpson is gets resolved quickly.

I saw him play wafl a few weeks back and was impressed, kept tabs on his performances since then and was encouraged and really excited after last weekend. Looks to be a ripper with some more games experience.

I suppose I was also relieved with his consistent performances after all the talk of homesickness, etc. I thought we had wasted a first round pick. My heart sunk after the recent news of him missing the flight or not meeting team goals.

Soooo soooo hope it was just a mishap that he learns from. Hoping for plenty more highlights from josh in purple.

Another well handled situation by the club. Their PR work is amazing.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Does anybody really know the full story ? I'm certainly not going to write the young guy off just yet. Although I can see how missing the plane to a game could be viewed as being a touch more serious than being 30 mins late to training !! I would like a bit more info because as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out

apparently the club has changed their story, he was supposed to fly to sydney but told them "very late" that he couldn't make it.

So, the club recruits this guy as his employer, but somehow you have been self-appointed to the jury of some mythical courtroom, regardless of whether an alleged "crime" of misconduct has been committed? Good grief. And thank you for your patience.

He wasn't even named as an emergency - what did they want him in Sydney for, to watch the ferries at Circular Quay come/go?
