Curious to know what peoples experiences are like at Eagles home derbies. Have heard a few stories about hostile fans but was wondering whether these were just isolated incidents? I got tickets during the members sale in block 214 so not sure if there will be any freo supporters around that area?

You'll be fine after 3qtr time, plenty of leg room opens up.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Have been to about 3 in the last 5 years enduring plenty of banter mostly bordering towards plain nastiness especially when they are winning, the last one 2012, sat behind the goals Suby end with most Dockers fans, there was this guy in the next isle to my right with wife & 3 kids & he continually abused any Freo supporters in his vicinity to the extent where several got up and walked out. I could not help myself as the match came to a close and told him to take a good hard look at his disgraceful behaviour to which he responded with a mouthful of foul language and abuse, he was a complete & utter knob and for his kids to listen to that and his wife to sit back and let him behave like that was shameful, on my way out some channel seven reporter shoved a camera in my face and asked what i thought of the result to which the only thing I responded with was that Eagle supporters where and are the most nasty & obnocious(not sure of spelling) fans I have ever had to endure.

To be honest I wouldn't take my primary school aged kids the ratio of agro kooks to normal folk is just too high.

Apart from that you should be fine.

I try not to bother with any banter as they have no as in ZERO sense of humour.

Totally contrasts with my experiences at games in Melbs ... Even skilled stadium last year banter was awesome ...

As I left group I had been conversing with all day fired off:

"Lyon will get you to a GF but he won't win you won"

**sigh**

Don't let any nob heads deter you from going. You get them in every crowd. I've been to several away derbies and have had a great time. At the Grand Final I was sitting behind a pair of Freo goons who were an embarrassment to the purple. Pointing to the scoreboard will be the best response.

I have not returned since a traumatic experience about 10 years ago, when we were sitting amongst the slime supporters who told us to move in no uncertain manner from the time we arrived. We did after half time and I slowly became more and more angry as they hollowed with delight every time we missed, or kicked a point. My sister dragged me out of there before I punched one of them. I think the final margin was over 100 points.
Never again, even though I know they would never thrash us like that again.

214 should be fine as that is where the majority of Freo supporters will be sitting. Went to the last away Derby and got abused by a bunch of blue rinsed hair old ladies before we even took our seats demanding that we leave as it's their oval. I was far more traumatised after I went to the Geelong WC game with a Geelong supporter as a favour. That was feral and disgusting at it's best.

It can work both ways. I went the year Josh Car beat up Kerr and Cousins and won the Glendinning and had an absolute ball dishing it out, but without stooping to their levels of abuse. eg. Mid way through the last quarter: "Hear that love? that's the sound of 40 thousand Eagles fans saying absolutely nothing" missus laughed, I laughed but strangely none of them found it funny...

I've been to plenty, never really had any problems, no nastiness. Still - I have been to away games at Millwall, so maybe my idea of intimidation is a bit different.

2009 was one of the good ones - Pavlich's 200th, a come from behind victory, Hase winning the Glenny (again). A big lardy bloke was shouting from the walkway above us as we crammed in the underpass to get on the trains 'Where's your flags then Freo?'...

I couldn't think of anything better to shout than 'Where's your bra, fat lad?'

It shut him up though....
