Fremantle fulfilled their contractual obligations to stand around on the Joondaup “Arena” for a couple of hours on a Tuesday afternoon, making sure they not only didn’t give anything away for the season ahead but that they made people forget a few things from the season gone. Most of the blokes were out there for the leg exercise with a the occasional tackle laid and the odd attempt to kick at goals but for the most part the afternoon was an unnecessary distraction for Fremantle’s premiership tilt.
The Eagles, on the other hand, treated the game like a mini final, going hell for leather in an attempt to convince everyone that they’re not the spent force everyone assumes. They weren’t all that convincing but good on them for having a crack. Fremantle will get another chance to help people forget things in 8 days time when they play the Western Bulldogs on a Wednesday afternoon. Presumably it will be raining.
