Fremantle’s Michael Barlow says he is confident fellow midfield star David Mundy will follow his lead and commit to the Dockers beyond next season despite the lure of free agency.
Barlow celebrated his birthday today by signing a new two-year deal, tying him to the Dockers through to the end of the 2016 season.
He is the first of Fremantle’s three primary midfielder to sign an extension, with Mundy and reigning Doig medallist Nat Fyfe both coming out of contract in 2014.
Mundy, 28, will become eligible for free agency next year and is set to attract plenty of interest from Victorian clubs, particularly after his stellar performance in Fremantle’s 15-point grand final loss to Hawthorn.
But Barlow tipped his teammate to stay in a purple jumper, backing the lure of success to be stronger than money.
