It was a beautiful day for it, the fans rambled up to have a bit of a look at a game of footy, expecting to have things done and dusted before the beer started to turn cold. But it was such a nice day, the Fremantle players decided to take their time with the Saints, have a bit of a fun and go into the new week feeling fresh. There was none of the tight play and silky skills of weeks past, it was just a bit of a kick around, mistakes weren’t dwelled upon, structures were more loose guidelines and points seemed to be awarded to the players who came closest to killing a man. The Saints got a bit ahead of themselves when they got a bit ahead of Fremantle in the second quarter but a quick burst of goals by a new bloke named Pavlich and a spout of berserking from Hayden Ballantyne put Fremantle well in front and kept them there until it was time to hand out the flags.
