THE revival of Fremantle's Ryan Crowley last night was complete when the tagger caused a shock Doig Medal upset and won his first club champion award.
A year of repeat excellence had Crowley out-poll and upstage some of the biggest names at Fremantle in front of a crowd of about 1000 at Crown Perth as he finished four votes ahead of runner-up Chris Mayne, while sentimental favourite Luke McPharlin finished fifth and ever-reliable captain Matthew Pavlich ended with a surprise fourth.
Crowley's career looked all but over as he struggled to find a consistent role in the side until coach Ross Lyon entered the fold and revived the 28-year-old with a return to his trademark run-with game.
